Todd Starnes: Family Feud, Trains, &…Faces on the Porch

I’ve saved a few of my best quotes for the last of these.

I have watched my family shake hands, smile, and farewells and make the two hour drive home laughing with joy.

How did I become one of those people?

My first memory is of my dad saying as he approached our front door that “We are going to be late for the train.” Then he walked over to the front steps, put his hand on my shoulder and smiled. I knew then that I would go to a great college. This was in 1983, and I wasn’t convinced.

But I had one fear. Now he was going to say that we were late for the train! I looked around at my mother, then toward my father and said as I looked into his eyes, “I’m not leaving this porch if I don’t have to!”

I haven’t walked this porch one more time. I am so lucky to have so many friends and their families.

Some people are just born with that good nature and can kind of know the right thing to say at the right time. It’s not hard and they don’t even need the extra element of knowing.

Being a mom means always knowing what your child needs. You are their caretaker, and they feel that always there.

Everyone has a tantrum or blow out on occasion, but how do you prevent them?

Study, talk to the doctor, and be a good listener.

Learning has taught me many lessons, but what is in your future?

I am such a lucky person, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
