Arsenal had a “perfect first half” and should have scored more, says new manager Carlos Arteta.
Arsene Wenger’s last match was a 1-0 win over Brighton on 26 May, when goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the Gunners back in the top four.
Arsenal have already won four of their five matches under Arteta, including a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
“We have a lot of confidence and I believe in us,” said the Spaniard.
“We are not far off from achieving what we believe is possible. I am convinced.
“We are an efficient side and, if you look at the results, we haven’t conceded a goal yet in the league.
“I understand the supporters, but I want to speak about the work. If I was playing, I would expect to score and win.”
Despite facing the toughest of Arsenal’s fixtures on Sunday, Arteta believes he can take a positive attitude into those games.
“I feel fine. I am a football manager, so I am happy to play in the Emirates.
“I am the same way with every game. I will push my team until the end of the match and I think my team do this.”
